Part Time Lead Cook

Hourly Pay: $18.50

The lead cook works within the Dreams For Change Workforce program. The Part Time Lead Cook will be supporting the food truck with transporting inventory, drop off of laundry, cooking/preparing lunches Monday-Friday and dinner deliveries on Saturday. This position will also require supervising and training of 1-3 trainees from the Workforce program.

Responsibilities

  •  Set up workstations with all needed ingredients and cooking equipment 
  • Ensure preparation of ingredients to use in cooking (chopping and peeling vegetables, cutting meat etc.) 
  • Lead, train, & direct support staff in their daily duties, assign tasks to trainees and ensure they understand how to complete each task. Make accommodations as needed by the trainee 
  • Cook according to predetermined recipes and menu 
  • Ensure great presentation by dressing dishes and cleaning any mess before they are served 
  • Pick up food and supplies from storage and bring to job site 
  • Check quality of ingredients and complete quality assurance checklists 
  • Monitor stock and place orders when there are shortages as needed 
  • Maintain food truck to health code standards 
  • Maintain a positive and professional approach with coworkers, trainees, and customers 
  • Follow dress code standards 
  • Deliver dinner meals every Saturday 
  • Drop off laundry once a week 
  • Complete any tasks assigned by the Lead Cook Supervisor 
  • Complete staff trainings as assigned 

Necessary Qualifications

  1. Proven experience as cook
  2. Experience in using cutting tools and cookware
  3. Knowledge of various cooking procedures and methods (grilling, baking, boiling etc.)
  4. Ability to follow all sanitation procedures
  5. Ability to work in a team, train others, and lead while giving clear direction
  6. Very good communication skills
  7. High school diploma or equivalent; Diploma from a culinary school will be an advantage
  8. Excellent understanding of various cooking methods, ingredients, equipment and procedures
  9. Good time management skills, accuracy and speed in executing assigned tasks
  10. Familiar with industry’s best practices
  11. Ability to work in a confined environment
  12. Ability to improvise meals when necessary
  13. Ability to lift up to 60 lbs
  14. Ability to stand and be on your feet for long periods of time
  15. Ability to multitask
  16. Valid Driver’s License and clean dribing record

Schedule

  • 6 shifts per week with each shift being 3-4 hours long. Estimated total hours per week are 18-24 hours. 
  • Must be available from 8:30am-12:30pm Monday-Friday and 3:30pm-7pm pn Saturdays

Hourly Pay: $27.00

The Safe Parking Program Coordinator is responsible for developing, planning, organizing, implementing, and coordinating a variety of activities related to the Safe Parking Program that serves individuals living in a vehicle. The Coordinator will work collaboratively with the Program Manager, and partnering agencies to ensure project goals are met and accomplished. The Coordinator is responsible for daily program operations.

Case Manager – Safe Sleeping

Hourly Pay: $21.00 - $24.00 plus benefits

The Case Manager is responsible for providing advocacy, information and referrals for participants within the DFC homeless service programs of either Safe Parking or Safe Sleeping. Multiple positions available with both first and second shift. Part-time positions are second shift.
