Dreams for Change (DFC) is seeking qualified candidates with lived experience to create client-centered recreational, life skills, and wellness programming at the Safe Parking Program funded by the City of Oceanside. The goal of the Peer Support Assistant is to build community through various activities while reducing stress or isolation. The Peer Support will be able to share their own experience including successes and challenges. The Peer Support will provide feedback received from clients and will work with the Safe Parking Program team to enhance services at the Safe Parking Program. This is a part-time position at 20 hours per week.
Responsibilities
- Responsible for site setup and breakdown, including restocking supplies (e.g., toilet paper) and coordinating dinner deliveries
- Design client-centered recreational activities
- Connect with outside speakers as appropriate to lead various groups and activities
- Listen to client concerns and feedback
- Share own experience as a way to support clients
- Work with Program Coordinator and Case Managers to address client concerns
- Complete notes and reporting as needed
- Follow and enforce program policies
- Other duties as assigned
Qualifications
The incumbent must have proficient knowledge in the following areas:
- Excellent customer service skills
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
- Ability to work with diverse populations and understand a wide variety of needs
- Critical thinking and problem-solving skills
- Team player
- Good time management skills
- High School diploma or equivalent is preferred

Hourly Pay: $19.00
